What is Nutritional Therapy?
Food is medicine. What we put into our bodies impacts every aspect of our life. Yet this simple fact is often overlooked and disregarded.
Nutritional Therapy is a science-based approach which seeks to identify the root causes of symptoms and addresses underlying imbalances so that the client can achieve and maintain optimal health.
Rooted in bio-individuality and understanding that every body is unique, all plans and protocols are customized for the client’s current needs and include food, herb, supplement, and lifestyle recommendations.
Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTP) focus on addressing the six foundations for optimal health which include: nutrition, digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid balance, mineral balance, and hydration. Using a comprehensive nutritional assessment, the hands-on functional evaluation, and lingual neuro testing (LNT) we seek to address the root cause, not just the presenting symptoms.
Are you feeling stuck on your wellness journey? Or overwhelmed by the amount of information available about health and wellness? Do you need a professional who will work with you 1-on-1 and provide ongoing support?
We will work together to discover what foods, herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other lifestyle changes will truly nourish your unique body.
I will be there each step of the way, helping you to solve the mysteries, so you can let go of patterns that no longer serve you – and thrive.
What is Mindful Eating?
Did you know that your body can be nourished through not just your mouth, but also through your eyes, nose, ears, heart, and cells? When we learn to nourish ourselves using all of our bodily senses by eating mindfully we eat less, feel satisfied sooner, digest easier, absorb more nutrients, and awaken a deeper sense of gratitude and connection.
My five years of training at a Zen monastery included thousands of hours of mindful eating practice through the ancient Japanese eating ritual of oryoki practice. I’ve also had the priviledge of studying with Chozen Bays Roshi who is a Zen teacher and pediatrician who has dedicated much of her life work to mindful eating.
Mindful Eating is the foundation for all of my Nutritional Therapy clients. As we learn to truly listen to the cues we receive from our bodies, we can awaken our intuitive sense of eating and let our bodies cue what foods we put into our bowls. Our minds are often running the show; habitually deciding what to eat, how much, and also providing the not so helpful inner critic commentary about what food choices we are making. Mindful Eating teaches us how to drop into our bodies and let our stomach, eyes, nose, ears, cells, and heart guide our food choices.
Mindful Eating is transformative. The mindfulness practices that you will learn will also flow into other aspects of your life, deepening your connection with yourself and others.
